At a Glance
The essentials before you book anything — capacity, the best seats, the atmosphere, transit, and where to stay for a match or event at BMO Field.
The Experience
Opened in 2007 as Canada’s first soccer-specific stadium, BMO Field sits on the Lake Ontario waterfront at Exhibition Place. Its compact scale is the whole point — around 30,000 seats close to the pitch, which makes for a far more intimate atmosphere than the big multi-purpose bowls.
The Stadium
- A compact, soccer-first bowl where the stands sit close to the touchline
- Canopy roofs cover much of the east and west stands, though the pitch stays open to the sky
- The south end holds Toronto FC’s supporters’ sections and generates the noise
- Expanded and reconfigured over the years for CFL football and major tournaments
- Waterfront setting at Exhibition Place, with the CN Tower skyline behind
- Small enough that there are very few genuinely poor sightlines anywhere in the ground
Arrive Ready
- Take transit — GO Transit stops at Exhibition Station and streetcars run from downtown
- Open-air with partial cover — check whether your section is under the canopy
- Toronto weather swings hard, from humid summer matches to cold late-season football
- Parking at Exhibition Place is limited on event days, so plan transit or rideshare
- Liberty Village and King West are close by for pre- and post-match food and drink
Events at BMO Field
Two professional teams share the ground, alongside Canada national team fixtures, the Grey Cup on rotation, and outdoor events that use the waterfront setting.
Toronto FC
- Toronto FC plays its MLS home schedule here from late winter through the autumn playoffs
- MLS Cup winners and one of the league’s most established clubs, with a devoted supporter base
- The 401 Derby against CF Montréal is the fixture of the season
- The south end supporters’ sections drive the atmosphere throughout the match
Toronto Argonauts
- The Argonauts play the Canadian Football League season here through summer and autumn
- One of the oldest professional sports teams in North America, with a long Grey Cup history
- CFL rules — a longer, wider field and three downs — make for a fast, open game
- Typically the best-value ticket at the venue, and a good introduction to Canadian football
Canada Fixtures
BMO Field regularly hosts Canada national team matches, including World Cup qualifiers and CONCACAF fixtures. With Canadian soccer’s rising profile, these are among the highest-demand dates on the stadium calendar.
Where to Sit
The 100 Level sidelines near midfield are the premium choice, while the 200 Level sidelines are the value pick — and because the ground is compact, the view from up there is still excellent. Sit in the south end if you want atmosphere over sightlines.
Toronto
Canada’s largest city, with a superb restaurant scene and a walkable downtown. The stadium sits on the waterfront a short ride from the core, so a match pairs easily with a full Toronto weekend.

The best seats at BMO Field are the 100 Level sidelines near midfield — closest to the pitch with the most balanced view. In a ground this compact, though, there are few bad seats anywhere.
BMO Field Levels, Explained
BMO Field is a compact two-tier bowl. Level matters less here than at bigger stadiums, but position still does:
Configurations differ between soccer and CFL football, since the wider Canadian football field changes the layout. We confirm the setup for your date.

Weather & Cover
BMO Field is open-air with partial canopy cover, on an exposed lakefront site. Toronto’s seasons swing hard, so the forecast matters more here than at a domed venue.
Transit, Parking & Entry
BMO Field sits at Exhibition Place on the waterfront, well served by GO Transit and streetcars. Parking is limited on event days, so transit is the practical choice.
Before You Go
- Bag restrictions apply and vary by event — check the specific event’s policy before travelling
- Mobile ticketing — load your tickets before leaving the hotel
- Dress warmer than you think for late-season fixtures; the lakefront wind is real
- Liberty Village and King West are the closest areas for food and drink

World Cup 2026 at BMO Field
BMO Field was the Toronto host venue for the FIFA World Cup 2026, staging six matches across the group stage and knockout rounds — including a Round of 16 fixture. The stadium was temporarily expanded for the tournament.
6 Matches, Incl. a Round of 16
Group-stage matches through a Round of 16 knockout fixture, with Canada playing on home soil. Toronto and Vancouver were the tournament’s two Canadian host cities.
Temporarily Enlarged
Normally the most compact venue on the 2026 slate at around 30,000, BMO Field was temporarily expanded with additional seating to meet tournament requirements, then returned to its regular configuration afterward.
How World Cup Seating Worked
World Cup tickets were sold in FIFA price categories by location: Category 1 was lower-bowl sideline, Category 2 the corners and upper sideline, and Category 3 behind-goal and upper bowl. Sideline seats gave the best full-pitch view.
Looking ahead, BMO Field continues as the home of Toronto FC and the Toronto Argonauts and a regular host of Canada national team fixtures. For current tickets and hospitality, reach out any time.
BMO Field — Common Questions
The questions visitors ask most, plainly answered.
The best seats are the 100 Level sideline sections near midfield, closest to the pitch with the most balanced view. Because the stadium is compact at around 30,000, even the 200 Level sidelines offer an excellent view and are the best value. The south end behind the goal holds Toronto FC’s supporters and has by far the strongest atmosphere.
BMO Field is open-air, though canopy roofs cover much of the seating in the east and west stands, leaving the pitch and some sections exposed. Toronto weather ranges from warm humid summers to genuinely cold late-season football, with wind off Lake Ontario adding to it, so dress for the forecast and check whether your section sits under cover.
BMO Field is at Exhibition Place on Toronto’s waterfront, west of downtown. GO Transit trains stop at Exhibition Station beside the stadium, and the 509 and 511 streetcars run from Union Station and downtown. Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport is about 15 minutes away and Toronto Pearson roughly 30. Parking at Exhibition Place is limited on event days, so transit is the practical choice.
BMO Field is home to Toronto FC of Major League Soccer and the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. It also hosts Canada national team matches, the Grey Cup on rotation, and concerts and outdoor events, making it one of the busiest venues in Toronto across the year.
Yes. BMO Field was the Toronto host venue for the FIFA World Cup 2026, staging six matches across the group stage and knockout rounds, including a Round of 16 fixture. The stadium was temporarily expanded with additional seating for the tournament, then returned to its regular configuration. Toronto was one of two Canadian host cities alongside Vancouver.
The south end, behind the goal, holds Toronto FC’s supporters’ sections — expect standing, singing, drums, and flags for the full match. It’s the loudest part of the ground and the best choice if you want the experience over the sightline. For a balanced view with good atmosphere nearby, the lower sideline sections closest to the south end are a strong compromise.
