A final settled from the spot.

For the first time, the Champions League final came to Hungary. Kai Havertz put Arsenal ahead inside six minutes, Ousmane Dembélé drew Paris Saint-Germain level from the penalty spot, and after extra time could not separate them, PSG held their nerve in the shootout to retain the trophy in front of 61,035 in Budapest.

Havertz struck inside six minutes before Dembélé’s second-half penalty drew PSG level. About the Event

The 2025/26 Champions League Final

The 2026 final closed out the 71st season of Europe’s premier club competition and the first Champions League final ever staged in Hungary. Paris Saint-Germain arrived as defending champions, the first reigning winners to reach the final since 2018, while Arsenal returned to the showpiece for the first time since 2006.

The Puskás Aréna opened in 2019 on the site of the old Népstadion, retaining the original brick entrance walls, and had already hosted the 2023 Europa League final. With the match level after 120 minutes, PSG won the shootout to become only the second club in the Champions League era to successfully defend the title.
