The centrepiece of COTA. Sit directly opposite the pit lane with clear sightlines across all team garages, the full start/finish straight, and the best possible view of the podium ceremony. Turn 1 โ€” The Hill
Sells Out First Lap 1 Action Heavy Braking Amphitheatre Layout

The most dramatic grandstand corner in North American racing. Cars rocket up a steep, massive crest and attack a heavy braking zone while climbing 133 feet into a wide, blind hairpin apex. This combination makes it the premier spot for opening-lap drama, daring divebombs, and lock-ups. The steep incline creates an incredible natural stadium perspective where you can see down the main straight. Book earlyโ€”this is always the first grandstand section to sell out.

Turn 4 โ€” Esses Entry
Technical Section Aero Balance Visible Purist Pick

Entry to COTA’s celebrated high-speed esses complex โ€” six linked corners inspired by Maggotts-Becketts at Silverstone. From Turn 4 you watch cars set up for this sequence, making the aero balance and mechanical balance of each car plainly visible as they transition direction at high speed. Less overtaking drama than Turn 1, but far more technically revealing. Popular with fans who know what they’re looking at.

Turn 6 โ€” Esses Panorama

The overlooked gem on the COTA seating map. Turn 6 sits at the top of the esses complex with an elevated, panoramic sightline across the entire sequence โ€” from T3 through T9 โ€” rather than just one corner of it. While T4 shows the entry and T9 shows the exit, Turn 6 shows the whole thing: you can watch cars working through all six linked corners simultaneously. Technical fans consistently rate this as one of the best overall viewing positions on the circuit.

The exit of the esses complex โ€” where the accumulated gains or errors from the previous five corners get resolved into a straight-line result. A car that’s threaded the esses perfectly exits T9 on rails; one that’s struggled arrives sideways. You see the consequence of the whole sequence played out in front of you, plus a clear run toward the back section. One of the better value positions on the circuit for race day.

Turn 12 โ€” Back Straight Braking Zone
Primary Overtaking Zone Heavy Braking DRS Pass Completion Stadium Infield View

The apex of COTA overtaking action. Positioned directly at the end of the massive 1-kilometer back straight, cars arrive at top tracking speeds of over 200 mph before slamming on the brakes into a sharp, low-speed left-hand corner. This is where DRS-assisted passes are completed, defensive cover lines are drawn, and major tracking errors unfold under late braking pressure. The grandstand layout also gives you an expansive sweeping panoramic view of the technical infield complex from Turn 13 through Turn 16.

A fan favorite inside COTA’s massive stadium section. From Turn 15, you sit directly across the highly technical, low-speed complex that filters out of the long straight. Because cars slow down significantly to navigate the linked curves, you get sustained, close-up tracking views of the drivers working the wheels through Turns 12, 13, 14, and 15. An exceptionally comfortable zone with great fan engagement and heavy continuous action tracking.

Off-Camber Left Tricky Cornering Track Limits Risk

A highly technical, fast, and penalizing off-camber left-hand sweep right before the entry to the pit lane. Turn 19 forces cars to battle sliding understeer while transitioning at speed. This is a critical tracking zone for late-session track limits infractions and surprise spins as drivers push boundaries trying to launch onto the front straight. It provides an excellent, fast-paced perspective of pure mechanical capability right at the close of the tracking lap.

The Hill โ€” Behind Turn 1

The largest GA zone and the most popular. The natural hillside behind the Turn 1 grandstand gives you an elevated, unreserved view of the approach and braking zone โ€” the same drama as the Turn 1 grandstand but standing, free to move, and significantly cheaper. Gets crowded early on race day; arrive by 10 AM for a good position on the slope.

The Esses GA Zone โ€” Around Turn 11

The GA zone in the infield near the back section of the circuit. Less crowded than The Hill, with views across the back esses. Good for fans who want more space and a different circuit perspective. Some movement is possible between GA zones during the event โ€” check COTA’s current GA policy before arrival as access rules vary year to year.

Main GA Zone โ€” Start/Finish Area

Standing access in the main infield and general concourse area near the start/finish straight. Gives flexibility to move between viewing points throughout the weekend. GA tickets are the entry-level product โ€” full access to the circuit perimeter, concerts, and fan zones without a reserved seat. Best suited to attendees who want the full festival atmosphere over a fixed race view.

Concert Nights

Headline performances on the main stage inside the circuit perimeter following the on-track action. Included with all race weekend tickets.

Friday, October 23
Maroon 5
Kick off the weekend’s major musical highlights on Friday night as Maroon 5 takes the main stage layout. The performance begins shortly after the conclusion of the evening’s track sessions. General admission access to the festival field lawn is fully covered by your event entry pass.
Saturday, October 24
Post Malone
Saturday night features global superstar Post Malone live on the infield concert grounds. Historically the largest post-race music crowd of the event framework, this performance launches immediately following final qualifying runs as the track transitions into a massive live venue environment.
๐ŸŽŸ

Concert access is included with all race weekend tickets โ€” no separate purchase needed.
๐Ÿ“
Location
Main stage sits inside the circuit perimeter near the infield. Accessible from all grandstand zones.
โฐ
Timing
Sets typically begin 8โ€“9 PM and run until 11 PM. Gates usually remain open through the headline set.
๐Ÿ‘ฅ
Crowds
Saturday night draws the largest post-race crowd. Thursday concert is typically the most accessible of the three.
Parking & Logistics

Getting In & Out

COTA draws well over 100,000 on race Sunday alone. Lot selection and arrival timing have more impact on your day than almost any other single decision.

โฑ  Arrive Early
Race Sunday: aim to be parked by 10 AM at the latest. Traffic backs up on SH-130 from roughly 11:30 AM. The same approach applies to qualifying Saturday โ€” plan accordingly.
๐Ÿš—  Exit Strategy
Take SH-130 north toward IH-35 rather than surface streets. Consider waiting 30โ€“45 minutes post-race for dispersal to ease โ€” the podium ceremony gives you a natural reason to stay.
๐ŸšŒ  Shuttle Option
Downtown Austin and South Park & Ride shuttles are the cleanest exit option on race day. Pre-purchase shuttle passes โ€” they sell out and are not available at the stop on event day.
Red Lot
2โ€“5 min walk Premium By 9:00 AM
Closest to main gate. Sells out weeks before event. Paved, controlled entry and exit.
Orange Lot
8โ€“12 min walk Premium By 9:30 AM
Good proximity with slightly more flexibility. Well-organized with clear signage.
Blue Lot
15โ€“20 min walk Standard By 10:00 AM
Mid-distance. Reliable choice for most groups. Available day-of if you arrive before 10 AM.
Yellow Lot
25โ€“35 min walk Value By 10:30 AM
Furthest on-site lot. Shuttle service runs from Yellow to main gate.
Park & Ride โ€” Downtown
Shuttle to gate Shuttle Check schedule
Departs Austin Convention Center area. Removes downtown parking stress entirely. Pre-purchase required.
Park & Ride โ€” South
Shuttle to gate Shuttle Check schedule
Located off SH-45 SE. Good for guests staying south of the river or near Austin-Bergstrom.
Transportation

Getting Here

COTA sits 15 miles southeast of downtown Austin. Plan your inbound route before the weekend โ€” traffic management is aggressive on race days.

โœˆ๏ธ
From AUS Airport
Austin-Bergstrom International is approximately 10 miles from COTA. Rideshare, rental car, and shuttle options operate directly from the terminal. Rideshare surge pricing applies on race day โ€” pre-arrange if possible.
~20 min without traffic
๐Ÿ™
From Downtown Austin
Take SH-130 south from IH-35 โ€” the primary route recommended by COTA for eastside approaches. US-183 is an alternate. Avoid surface streets within 5 miles of the venue on race day. The Park & Ride from Convention Center removes all driving stress.
25โ€“40 min depending on day
๐Ÿš•
Rideshare
COTA operates a dedicated rideshare drop-off and pickup zone. On race Sunday, pickup can take 45โ€“90 minutes post-race due to volume. Booking the return in advance or waiting out the initial rush is strongly recommended.
Schedule pickup in advance
Accommodation

Austin & Surroundings

Austin hotel inventory moves fast for USGP weekend. Book at minimum 6 months out. Xenia manages accommodation as part of full-weekend packages.

Downtown Austin
~15 miles ยท 25โ€“40 min
The most popular base for international visitors โ€” walkable to 6th Street, Rainey Street, and the waterfront. Downtown hotels command a strong premium during race week. The Park & Ride shuttle from the Convention Center makes circuit access seamless on race day. Expect hotel rates 3โ€“5ร— standard pricing; book early.
South Austin / Slaughter Lane
~10 miles ยท 20โ€“30 min
South Congress and the Slaughter Lane corridor offer better availability and more reasonable pricing than downtown. South Park & Ride shuttle pickups operate from this area. Good choice if circuit proximity matters more than Austin nightlife.
Circuit-Adjacent Hotels
Within 5 miles
A small number of hotel and extended-stay properties sit within a few miles of COTA along SH-130 and US-183 SE. These book out completely for race week and require full-week minimums. Extremely convenient but limited dining and entertainment nearby.
North Austin / Domain Area
~20 miles ยท 35โ€“50 min
The Domain and North Austin corridors see lighter race-week price increases with good hotel stock. A longer drive to the circuit, but significantly easier exits post-race heading north on IH-35. Good fallback if downtown is fully committed.
FAQ

Common Questions

What can I bring into the circuit?

Small bags under 12โ€ณx12โ€ณx20โ€ณ are permitted. Clear bags are strongly recommended for faster security entry. No outside food or alcohol, no professional cameras with detachable lenses, no umbrellas larger than a standard folding size. Ear protection is allowed and recommended.

Can I bring a camera to the circuit?

Personal camera equipment (e.g., digital cameras, detachable lenses, point-and-click digital or film cameras) are permitted at The Circuit.

Can I move between grandstands during the race?

General admission ticket holders can move freely between GA zones throughout the event. Grandstand tickets are assigned to a specific stand and section โ€” moving between reserved grandstands is not permitted during sessions. During concert nights, all ticket holders have general access to the concert area regardless of grandstand assignment.

What’s the weather like in Austin for the Grand Prix?

Autumn race window timing in Austin is generally dry and mild โ€” highs typically in the 65โ€“75ยฐF range with cooler evenings. The USGP has been affected by sudden tracking downpours in select years. Layering is recommended for evening concert sessions. Check forecasts the week of the event and bring a compact rain layer regardless.

What’s included in a Xenia race package?

Xenia packages are custom-built per client and typically include race tickets (grandstand or hospitality), hotel accommodation for the full event period, ground transportation coordination, circuit planning briefings, and on-the-ground support during the event. We also assist with dining reservations, flight planning, and pre- or post-event Austin extensions. Contact us to build a package.

When should I book?

COTA regularly draws among the largest single-race crowds in the world, with race weekend attendance exceeding 400,000 across all four days in recent years. Turn 1 grandstand and Main Grandstand premium sections sell out 4โ€“6 months in advance. Hotels in the $150โ€“250/night range book even faster. If you’re planning to attend, reach out now โ€” Xenia can hold options while you finalize plans.
