The Experience
Opened in 2002 and home to both the Seattle Seahawks and Sounders FC, Lumen Field was engineered to be loud — partial roof canopies trap crowd noise and reflect it back onto the field. Paired with the 12s, it is one of the most hostile road environments in American sport, and the Seahawks arrive as reigning Super Bowl champions.
The Stadium
- Roof canopies cover roughly 70% of seats while leaving the field open — most fans stay dry in Seattle rain
- Those same canopies trap and reflect crowd noise, making it one of the loudest venues in world sport
- Steep seating decks keep fans close to the action and concentrate the atmosphere
- The 100 Level sidelines are the prime seats; the 300 Level sideline is the standout value
- Downtown SODO location with Link light rail adjacent and T-Mobile Park next door
- A clear-bag policy is enforced at every gate; confirm the specific event’s requirements before arriving
Arrive Ready
- Take light rail — Stadium Station is adjacent and runs straight from SEA airport in about 30 minutes
- Check whether your seats are under the canopy — it matters in the Pacific Northwest
- Parking around SODO is limited and sells out for Seahawks and Sounders games, so pre-purchase or take transit
- Pioneer Square’s bars and restaurants are a short walk away and are the local pre-game gathering spot
- Bring a rain layer regardless of forecast — Seattle weather turns quickly
Events at Lumen Field
Two professional teams with two of the loudest fan bases in North American sport, plus the biggest stadium concert tours and international soccer.
Seattle Seahawks
- Home of the Seahawks since 2002 — a full slate of preseason and regular-season home games from August through the playoffs
- Reigning Super Bowl champions after beating the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl LX in February 2026
- Also won Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014, and the 12s remain one of the most celebrated fan bases in the league
- NFC West rivalry games against the 49ers, Rams, and Cardinals bring the loudest, highest-demand atmospheres
Seattle Sounders FC
- The Sounders play their MLS home schedule here and regularly draw among the biggest crowds in the league
- Multiple MLS Cup titles and a CONCACAF Champions League crown, with a supporters’ culture unmatched in North America
- The march to the match from Occidental Park is one of the great traditions in American soccer
- Cascadia derbies against Portland and Vancouver are the most intense fixtures of the season
Where to Sit
For Seahawks games, the 100 Level sideline between the 20s is the premium choice and the loudest spot in the building, the 200 club sidelines add indoor comfort, and the 300 Level sideline is the value pick. For soccer, sideline seats give the best full-pitch view.
The Loudest in Sport
The roof canopies were designed to reflect crowd noise back down onto the field, and Lumen has held Guinness World Records for crowd noise. Visiting offenses regularly struggle with false starts here — it is a genuine competitive advantage, and worth experiencing from the lower bowl.
Seattle
The stadium sits in SODO on the edge of downtown, walking distance from Pioneer Square and close to Pike Place Market and the waterfront. T-Mobile Park is next door for Mariners games, making combination sports trips easy.

Lumen’s partial roof does two jobs at once — it keeps most of the crowd dry, and it traps the noise they make. Both are worth understanding before you pick seats.
Light Rail, Parking & Entry
Lumen Field has one of the best transit setups in the NFL — Link light rail stops adjacent at Stadium Station and runs directly from the airport. Parking in SODO is limited, so transit is usually the smart call.

- Backpacks, large purses, and non-clear bags are not permitted at the gates
- Umbrellas are not permitted — bring a rain jacket instead, which is the local approach anyway

World Cup 2026 at Lumen Field
Lumen Field was the Seattle host venue for the FIFA World Cup 2026, staging six matches across the group stage and knockout rounds — including a Round of 16 fixture, in one of the best soccer cities in the country.
6 Matches, Incl. a Round of 16
Group-stage matches through a Round of 16 knockout fixture. Seattle’s soccer culture and Lumen’s noise made it one of the most atmospheric host venues of the tournament.
Built for the Game
The Sounders’ record MLS crowds and the march to the match tradition made Seattle a natural host city. Lumen was designed with soccer in mind from the outset, and the supporters’ culture was already in place.
How World Cup Seating Worked
World Cup tickets were sold in FIFA price categories by location: Category 1 was lower-bowl sideline (longside), Category 2 the corners and upper sideline, and Category 3 behind-goal and upper bowl. For soccer, sideline seats gave the best full-pitch view.
Looking ahead, Lumen Field continues as the home of the Seattle Seahawks and Sounders FC and a year-round host of concerts and major events. For current tickets and premium access, reach out any time.
Lumen Field — Common Questions
The questions Seahawks and Sounders fans ask most, plainly answered.
The best seats at Lumen Field are the 100 Level sideline sections between the 20-yard lines — closest to the field and deepest in the noise. The 200 Level club sidelines add indoor lounge access and premium amenities at an excellent elevation. If value matters, the 300 Level sideline is the standout: a clear full-field view with strong roof coverage at a fraction of lower-level pricing.
Lumen Field was designed with partial roof canopies over the seating bowl that trap crowd noise and reflect it back down onto the field instead of letting it escape, combined with steep decks that put fans close to the action. Paired with the Seahawks’ 12s and the Sounders’ supporters, it has held Guinness World Records for crowd noise and remains one of the toughest road environments in the NFL.
Lumen Field is open-air, but the roof canopies cover roughly 70 percent of the seats, so most spectators stay dry in Seattle rain while the field itself stays open to the sky. Lower rows closest to the field and parts of the end zones get the least coverage. Given the Pacific Northwest climate, it’s worth checking whether your seats sit under the canopy before booking — and note that umbrellas aren’t permitted.
Lumen Field is in Seattle’s SODO district on the edge of downtown, with Link light rail stopping adjacent at Stadium Station and running directly from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in about 30 minutes. Sounder commuter rail also serves the stadium on event days. Transit is the easiest way in, since SODO parking is limited and sells out for Seahawks and Sounders games.
Lumen Field is home to the Seattle Seahawks of the NFL and Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer. The Sounders regularly draw among the largest crowds in MLS, and both fan bases are known for the noise they generate. T-Mobile Park, home of the Seattle Mariners, is directly next door, which makes combination sports trips easy to build.
Yes. Lumen Field was the Seattle host venue for the FIFA World Cup 2026, staging six matches across the group stage and knockout rounds, including a Round of 16 fixture. Seattle was one of 11 US host cities, and the city’s soccer culture combined with Lumen’s noise made it one of the most atmospheric venues of the tournament.
