5 Packing Tips to Prepare You for Travel

Whether you are taking the trip of a lifetime to a major event like the Masters or making a return trip to your favorite music event, you likely have a to-do list a mile long. If you're like most of us, the last word that gets crossed off is "packing." Here are some packing tips and travel tricks that will make getting to day one of your vacation seem like a walk in the park.

1. Write a Packing List (and stick to it)

Before your trip, write down everything you need throughout the day, including medications, hygiene items, that special comb you seem to always lose when you need most, and of course, clothes!

2. Use the Right Bag

If you're in town for a one-day event, packing lighter and using a small duffel bag can be better than packing an entire suitcase. Use your packing list to figure out how much space you'll really need and use the right bag for the job.

3. Roll your Clothes

Rolling your clothes instead of folding them is a great way to pack them together tightly in your bag or suitcase. It can also reduce the look of wrinkles on your clothes, so take advantage of this trick with anything from t-shirts to dresses and socks!

4. Use Compression and Packable Bags

Compression bags are amazing for packing, as they get rid of air either through a vacuum or through pressing them firmly. Using space saver bags is a great option for longer trips with more to pack.

Speaking of bags, use packable bags are also great as they take up little space and are useful for shopping trips or to carry extra small items.

5. Bring Layers for Outfits

The weather can change in an instant wherever you are. Pack clothes and even shoes with this in mind and bring layers such as crop tops, undershirts, sweaters, and scarves. Bonus tip: speaking of shoes, take advantage of the space inside them by putting socks, small stashes of cash, even accessories inside of them.
