WHAT TO DO IN CHARLOTTE, NC

When in Uptown Charlotte, its vital to explore both the thriving city center, as well as the various historical sites. Whether you’re in town for a Hornets or Panthers game, or just visiting - here’s what you must do in your free time.

FOR FOOD:

If you’re in need of a quick breakfast in Charlotte, before heading to the game or out for the day, you can grab one of the city’s famous Old World European-style pastries from Nova’s Bakery located in Plaza Midwood.

Around lunchtime, for a heartier meal, husband-and-wife owned, Mert’s Heart & Soul is a favorite local spot for home-style southern cooking (just a 5min walk from the Spectrum Center.)

At the end of the day, take in the city views with dinner on the 21st floor restaurant, Farenheit that features Asian-accented American plates and an incomparable view of the Charlotte skyline.

FOR ACTIVITIES:

If you have a free day to explore in the city, Charlotte is a great place to stroll around the modern city center, while also revisiting history. Its famous post-civil war history museum, Levine Museum of the New South is located in Uptown near the Spectrum Center. And whether you’re travelling with kids or not, Charlotte’s interactive Discovery Place Science museum is a must-visit for learning about science and technology with hands-on experiences.

Take your sports trip to Charlotte to the next level and visit the one and only NASCAR Hall of Fame, located near the museums in Uptown. The museum features various racetrack simulations, a theater with a projection screen and surround sound, as well as the Hall of Honor, where the most prestigious of NASCAR drivers are inducted and enshrined.

Though most sports events in Charlotte occur in the colder seasons of the year, bundling up for a stroll through the beautiful Freedom Park is highly recommended.
