Weightlifting – Summer Games 2024
map
The principle of Weightlifting is simple and has remained unchanged for millennia: lift more than your opponents. Athletes perform two types of lifts: the snatch and the clean & jerk requiring exceptional physical strength, speed, and mental resolve. Although the objective is simple, the competition is intensely strategic with athletes having just three attempts to establish their best result in each lift. The final ranking is determined by combining the best result in each movement to give a “total” result. In 2024, five body weight categories for women and five body weight categories for men will be contested at the South Paris Arena 6, an exhibition hall that will be transformed into a sporting arena
