Football Bordeaux – Summer Games 2024
For the Paris 2024 Games, the matches will take place in seven of the biggest stadiums in France: Paris (Parc des Princes), Nantes (La Beaujoire Stadium), Bordeaux (Bordeaux Stadium), Marseille (Marseille Stadium), Nice (Nice Stadium), Saint-Etienne (Geoffroy- Guiscard Stadium) and Lyon (Lyon Stadium).
Given the number of matches to be played and the need to recover in between, football’s competition will start several days before the Opening Ceremony.
Created for the Euro 2016 Football Championship, Bordeaux Stadium will welcome the world in 2024. With its spectacular design and iconic columns, mirroring the Landes Forest, it is the main sports venue in the Gironde Region’s capital city.

Did you know that..
Amateur Tradition:
Football at the Summer Games originally maintained an amateur status, with only amateur players allowed to participate. This tradition continued until the 1984 Los Angeles Games when professional players were permitted.
Olympic Football Trophy:
Unlike other major football tournaments, such as the FIFA World Cup, the Summer Games doesn't have a permanent trophy for football. Instead, winning teams are awarded the Olympic gold medals.
Age Limit for Men's Tournament:
In the men's football tournament, teams are restricted to players under the age of 23, with the exception of three overage players. This age limit was implemented to distinguish the Olympic competition from other major football events.
Women's Football Debut:
Women's football made its debut at the Summer Memorable Games in 1996 in Atlanta. Since then, it has become an integral part of the Olympic program, showcasing top talent from women's football globally.
Brazil's Success:
Brazil is the most successful nation in men's Olympic football, having won the gold medal multiple times. As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, Brazil won gold in 2016 (Rio de Janeiro), 2008 (Beijing), and 1964 (Tokyo). Notably, they have also had success in women's football.
